What does "Allowance" mean on the Materials List report?

An allowance is a placeholder amount covering a material you have budgeted for but not yet selected. The report flags them automatically.

Allowances are used as a placeholder to cover an anticipated cost for material selections that have not been finalized.

Example

A flipper might know they want to replace the vanities in the house, but not yet know which vanities. They plug in a $750 allowance, which they know is adequate to buy a reasonably priced vanity for the project.

On the Materials List Report

The report automatically identifies the allowances on your project wherever no specific material has been selected for a repair item.
